Frequently Asked Questions

As children have sensitive periods (times in life when they can more easily learn or absorb things and after which it becomes harder, such as language or neural development), the earlier a child starts his introduction to Montessori, the more efficient is his further education. Children can enter once they are walking (usually around the age of one) and up to around 4 years old depending on circumstances.

Consistency and order give the child an opportunity to focus his efforts on the development, rather than to adapt to changing conditions during the week. Therefore, children attend 5 days per week, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 to 16:00 or 18:00 in the Casa (ages ~3 to 6) program; 8:30 to 12:00, 13:30, or 16:00 in the Toddler (ages ~1 to 3) Program.

At IMC-Otrada, our current children are learning to become independent, confident, and passionate about their lives. It is a big job! When entering the program you need to understand that it is the choice of education for your child, not just a day-care center or place for entertainment. A Montessori class is a community of children and we work hard to maintain its social and emotional ecosystem. The appearance and disappearance of children coming within days of trial would be stressful for children in the group. We are ready and happy to provide any information about our center and to answer all your questions, so you can make this decision.

We do not provide an opportunity for parents to stay in the classroom during lessons. The purpose of the Montessori environment is to create an environment in which children feel in command. Everything in the environment corresponds to their size and the materials are specially designed for children. It is a place where they can learn to be confident and independent. From the moment of a child’s birth, parents represent for the child the people on whom he depends. Very often children associate the presence of the parents to dependence. A Montessori class is associated for the child with the state "I'm capable of doing a lot of things on my own.” This is possible thanks to the fact that parents do not enter the classroom.

Chess, Kung-Fu, dance, music, art, Chinese language and culture/calligraphy. All those classes are included in the child's day in a natural way and no extra pay is required. You may find more information about additional clubs here.

Children go for a walk once or twice a day depending on the length of time the child is at the center.

In the first years of life, it is very important to give the child the opportunity to acquire healthy eating habits. The menu in the center includes only foods high in vitamins and nutrients, no preservatives, no sugar, and no white flour. The menu includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Toddler Group works from September 1st to July 31st and is closed in August. Casa Group works from September 1st to June 30th.
